AMT F-1
Hi Everybody,
regarding the F-1:
Using the serial FX-Loop of my Marshall, is it possible to switch between the F1 and the Marshall preamp section by integrating the Marshall preamp into one of the F1 Loops? Example Fender Sound: Guitar -> F1 -> Marshall Power Amp ( Marshall Preamp sits muted in the F1 Loop) ; Marshall Sound: Guitar -> Marshall Pre and Power Amp (Fender Sound bypassed). Would this raise any hum problems?
Thanks a lot, Jo

Yes, it is possible. For this purpose we recommend to use connection under the following scheme:
F-1 feeding other pedals.
Hi there! Really, really nice job on those Legend Amp series pedals. My question may sound dumb, but...
I got an F-1 and an R-1. The manual states the F-1 receives and sends 12v, but the R1 should get 9v. Does that mean I could damage my R-1 if I try to get power from the F-1? Could you please clarify this "9v vs. 12v" question?
That said, I am really looking forward to see what will come in the "mid-gain" area (I wonder how a Bassman model would sound). Thanks!

We do not plan to add function MIDI in SS-11, but in the long term we wish to equip SS-11 with socket CONTROL OUT that will allow by means of FS-2MIDI to operate the external MIDI-device.

The loop of effects in SS-11 is activated constantly and cannot be disconnected in one of channels of the preliminary amplifier (neither in Clean, nor in Crunch, in Lead). For switching-off of a loop of effects you can use AMT True Selector TS-2

Depending on intensity of use of a SS-20 pedal, the tube 12AX7EH can work one year or more.
Question:
How to recognize SS-11A and SS-11B ?
Hi, my dealer sells the AMT SS-11, but he doesn't know if this is A or B model.
Is there a way to identify the model for sure ?
Is it possible to change a SS-11A model into SS-11B model for an electronics guy ?

1. Look at a packing box. On a label pasted on a lateral face it is written SS-11A or SS-11B model.
2. Look at serial number at the bottom of a pedal. In serial number it is underlined SS11A or SS11B.
To change A on B it will not be possible - too big distinction in the scheme of these devices.

The power unit is delivered only with basic modules (F-1, V-1). Other pedals of series Legend Amps (P-1, B-1, R-1, M-1, S-1, E-1) are not completed with power units.
Delivered complete with F-1 a power unit it is enough for a supply in addition two preamps of series Legend Amps

Metal sound with SS-11B ?
Hi,
_the SS-11A sounds vintage (70's-80's)
_the SS-11B sounds modern (what do you mean by modern ? metal ?)
_the SS-20 sounds metal (loud)
Can the SS-11B (modern) sounds as louder than the SS-20 into crunch and lead mode ?

Quite a reasonable question about 11A and 11B - the manual does not describe the difference.
These versions are designed rather for different playing styles: B is more abrupt and A is more "solid", though I can accomodate to any of those to get desired result. Each version is great in its own way. All this refers to the Lead channel, other channels are identical.
In other words, B version is good for choppy rhythm parts in lower tunings typical for modern metal bands, and A version is recommended mainly for fifths and power chords.

Cab simulator - on/off
I'm interested in the S1 pedal, that I just found out just while I was choosing a set of pedals to replace my current multi-fx modeler. And I was planning to build a speaker simulator to go directly into the mixer (as I'm used to with the digital modeler). Now I see that your pedals already have the speaker sim, but what happens when I switch off the distortion? Does the cab sim turn off? In that case it's bad, because it means that my guitar clean tones (passing through other pedals such as phaser and/or delay) would not have a nice eq when the distortion is off. Is it so? Thanks for your information! Bye from Italy

The output " Cab. Sim " is not switched off neither in a distortion mode, nor in a bypass mode
Question:
SS - 10
In the FAQ-section you said that you might offer a MIDI-footswitch for the SS-10 in the future. Maybe that's a silly question, but how am I supposed to connect a MIDI-footswitch to my preamp if there is no such connection provided (a MIDI-In/Out)?
Thanks a lot

MIDI-footswitch it is connected to SS-10 by means of a standard stereo-cable with connectors 6,35mm in socket specially intended for it on back panel SS-10 " F.SWITCH ". Having connected thus, there is an opportunity to switch channels of the preamp through interface MIDI.
Question:
SS 11 and the M. brand
Hi there!
I couldn't quite figure it out by the demos nor could find one in Madrid to test... What I want to know is if by "classic" do you mean british M. amps and if it cleans as good as he M for that funky-in-your-face with the volume knob going to the rock full on that we all love.
Thanks

SS-11 offers a wide variety of channel settings. This device can give you 3 switchable and adjustable channels - from clear, ringing clean sound to heavy, brutal lead sound, with juicy crunch in between.
Question:
Freak Guitar
I've got the Freak Guitar pedal and I read on the Harmony-Central.com that one guy got a new adapter because the 15V adapter is too much for the pedal. Should buy a new adapter, I've got the AC 220V/AC 15V (I live in Sweden).
Can you recommend any one/brand? Should the values be like your SA12-DC12V and with (-)+?
Where did the pedal go, can't find any information about it on your site?
Thanx!!

Pedal Freak Guitar was issued in two modifications: earlier version was delivered with adapters AC/AC (15V without loading), later there was a updating for adapters AC/DC 12V 1,25A. Distinctive feature of modifications for DC-adapters - power connector is on a back side of a pedal (in the version the AC-socket is established on a lateral face).
We recommend to apply the adapters delivered complete with a pedal.

[Ask]: AMT SS-11...
First of all, i want to thank to all You guys for making such great pedals! I just bought your AMT SS-11 couple months ago, and it's still sounding great to my ears. Finally, the waiting is over.. :)
I recently wonder if i might get a better sounding by replacing the stock tubes. The questions are..
1. Does AMT SS-11 has such V1 & V2 preamp tubes section? How can i differ them? What exactly are the differences between them?
2. Can i install different tube (different brand/specification) for each section (e.g. 12AY7 in V1 & 12AX7 in V2)?
Thanks a lot!

By development SS-11 we were guided by tubes 12AX7-EH but if you wish to experiment with a sound, you can use any tubes similar to a tube 12AX7, other manufacturers.
V1 & V2 can differ.
Freak guitar power supply
Hello! I need a power supply for my effects. The one I saw has a 12VDC-300mA output. Will it be enough for my Freak Guitar pedal?
Thanks!

No, such adapter will be insufficiently. For pedal Freak Guitar the power supply with the minimal current 1А 12VDC is necessary.

In an output of headphones of SS-10 you will not hear gritty sounding as ahead of the amplifier of headphones there is a cabinet of emulation
Question:
SS-20 & SS-11 switch type
Hi,
I have just bought SS-20 and have tried SS-11 as well.
I am wondering of what is the "F Switch" type. I found it very nice without having to hear the click noise on the amplifier.
Where should I get that kind of switch if i have broken mine?
Thanks
Bernard

F.Switch SS-20 optical, SS-11 - mechanical. Switching of a signal in
both preamps - relay. In the amplifier you will not hear noise of click
neither in SS-20, nor in SS-11 as in them the special scheme
extinguishing clicks at switchings is applied.
Question:
using F1 pedal into a mixer
Hi there! I already own several pedals (od/distortion included) and I'd like to know if I could use the F1 pedal connected straight to a PA system (with no power amps or cabs whatsoever), connecting my pedals in front of it (input). I just need the F1 to play clean and simulate a full one channel amp sound. Is this possible?
Thanks.

You can use AMT F-1 as the preliminary amplifier of any combo which was at you earlier. All the pedals applied by you now (Overdrive, Distortion ….), you can safely include in «INPUT» AMT F-1. Such pedals as Chorus, Flanger, Delay … include in sockets FX send - FX return preamp F-1. You can connect output F-1 directly in Power AMP or in linear input MIX of the audio mixer. Thus you can always use clean channel F-1.
Question:
Can I use the FX return of the F1 directly?
I'm looking for a power/amp speaker sim solution for a stereo set up (being fed from a Mesa Boogie's preamp). Could I feed my Mesa's effects SEND into the F1's Fx RETURN and, from there, to a PA/soundcard?
Would this bypass the "preamp" and tone stack of the F1 and allow me to use it's power amp and speaker sims in isolation?

Dear Stacco!
The variant offered by you is possible, however for exception of influence of tone stack F1, FX LOOP mode switch should be in mode SERIAL (it is in detail described in manual , page 3), and in socket SEND FX should be connected "empty" jack.
We recommend you to use input RETURN for your problem (being at the left side F1), thus there is an opportunity to apply an additional ring of effects (sockets SEND FX, RETURN FX).
